Bird #144 — Tennessee Warbler

vermivora (from vermis, worm, and vorare, to devour) peregrina (wandering alien)

Conway, Arkansas — Happy Valley

I left the road and headed gingerly into the woods halfway up the hillside above the Sperry’s house.  Art has killed several Copperheads in the yard, and although I’ve never seen one, I was always a bit wary.  This probably accounts for why Sally was no longer with me.

I heard the Tennessee Warbler singing repeatedly.  It was quite a while before I spotted it on a perch high up in the oak woods.
