Review - 1001 Colorado Place Names

Not really much of a read-through book. And not as many interesting stories as you might think. About the name of any given town, if you guessed "early settler," "politician," or "railroad official," you'd be right about 80% of the time.

The best of all was Creede. It was named for Nicholas C. Creede, a prospector who struck it rich. The story goes on to say: "Yet all of Creede's fortune did not make him a happy man. In 1897, while living in Los Angeles, he committed suicide by taking an overdose of morphine because, as one contemporary account put it, 'his wife, from whom he had separated, insisted on living with him.'"
