Then and Now — Fox River Grove

In 1920, a Fox River Grove resident named John Legat, Sr. began construction of a large garden on his property. He charged visitors 10 cents to tour the grounds, which included this 30-foot-tall windmill and some other features. When the gardens were sold, bits of it ended up in private yards.  A funding drive was attempted about five years ago to move the windmill to a local park and restore it, but it failed. The current owner has asked permission to tear it down, but it appears to me like everybody has decided to let it crumble on its own.
