Benjamin Harrison House — Indianapolis, Indiana

My family and I stopped here on our way to Kentucky for vacation. The house is located right in the middle of the city, in a somewhat worn neighborhood. The house is very well kept up, and our tour guide was great. His name was Roger, he grew up in Park Ridge and his parents were missionaries who wanted him to attend Wheaton College. He talked fast and mumbled a bit, but he was very informative. He had my younger daughter stand on the very spot where Harrison stood when he discovered he’d been elected President.

A lot of Harrison’s furniture and accessories are in the house. The tour took an hour and a half. The tour behind us caught up with us. (This happens to us fairly often, I suspect, because we are informed and interested, which in turn makes the guide’s job more enjoyable.) I walked around outside and took a few photos.
