Notes:Bostonian Nathaniel Starbuck is in Virginia when the Civil War starts. He joins the Faulconer Legion under Col. Faulconer, father of Adam, his Yale Roommate. He falls for Sally, daughter of a Legion sargeant sold into prostitution by Ridley, fiancee of Adam's sister, Anna. The Legion goes to Bull Run and joins in the stand that delays the Union attack and allows Jackson to take his position. Starbuck saves the Legion's colors, kills Ridley for Sally and is temporarily taken prisoner.
