Sharpe and Harper fight with their regiment at the battle of Bussaco, north of Lisbon. When the British army retreats, the two get caught behind enemy lines when they are locked in a warehouse cellar by two Portuguese brothers who are trying to sell food to the enemy. Sharpe and Harper escape, destroy the supplies and make their way cross country, picking up two beautiful women on the way. They are finally reunited with their troop and manage to capture the two brothers.
