Notes:Newby, a British high-fashion salesman and, and Hugh Carless, a diplomat, with four days' climbing lessons in the Welsh hills, walked into a remote region of Afghanistan rarely visited by Westerners. Along the way, they attempt, and nearly succeed, to climb the highest mountain in the region.

Review - A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush

I would have given this a higher rating if the trip took place in a part of the world I found more interesting. But Newby's self-deprecating writing style is clever and occasionally very funny.
