Late April

I took these photos along Black Squirrel Creek on Friday, April 23, or Sunday, April 25.

House Finch

Great Blue Heron

Snowy Egrets on a Beaver dam

Belted Kingfisher

Yellow-headed Blackbird

Common Grackles

Red-winged Blackbirds

I birded on Saturday too, at Brush Hollow, Cañon City, and Mueller State Park. But it was a dead day. Except for shorebirds and swallows, nothing much is moving yet this year. I drove up to the Cripple Creek area to bird around a reservoir where people have been reporting Pinyon Jays, but when I arrived, there were signs to the effect that it was private property and I needed to be a member to enter. Wasted trip on a wasted day.
