Description:He doesn't know it, but Shepherd Henderson (James Stewart) lives upstairs from a witch, Gillian Holroyd (Kim Novak). She gets it in her head that she wants him, so she casts a spell. Shep breaks off his engagement and gets involved with Gill. When he asks her to marry him, she resists, then decides to tell him all. He doesn't believe at first, but then goes to another witch and has the spell removed. Gill realizes she really loves Shep, but witches can't feel love—which means she's no longer a witch. But her aunt (Elsa Lanchester) is, and she contrives to lure Shep to Gill's place so they can fall in love for real. Jack Lemmon is around as Gill's brother.

Review - Bell, Book and Candle

Supposedly the inspiration for Bewitched. Jimmy Stewart plays his usually bumbling nice guy. I still can't decide if Kim Novak is attractive or not. The plot was stupid, but somehow it made me want Shep and Gill to get together.
