Description:Arlo Guthrie's song "Alice's Restaurant" made into a movie. Arlo is a folk singer who divides his time between gigs in New York and home of his friends Ray and Alice who live in an old church in Stockbridge, Massachusetts with all their hippie friends. The center of the song and film is the arrest of Arlo and another boy for dumping trash on Thanksgiving day, for which they were fined $25 and told to pick up the trash. Because of this arrest, Arlo was considered morally unsuitable for the army.

Review - Alice's Restaurant

I only watched it because I knew the song and story almost by heart when I was a kid. It's a slow-paced story about hippies who hang around and don't do much and argue and make love and die and basically waste their lives. The littering/arrest bit was mildly humorous, but otherwise it was pretty dull.
