Description:The Marx Brothers' first movie. Groucho plays Hammer, the owner of a failing resort in Florida. He also is trying to sell lots in a development. There's a bunch of silliness involving a stolen necklace and an engaged couple who get separated and then back together. Chico and Harpo are along to confuse things. Zeppo's there too as the hotel clerk. In the end, a rich man buys all the lots and reserves rooms for 400 people, saving the resort. All this is interrupted by musical numbers, including a harp solo for Harpo and a piano solo by Chico.

Review - Cocoanuts, The

When you've seen one Marx Brothers' movies, you have, indeed, seen them all. This one was so early that the sound was barely hanging in there. A group of dancers did several synchronized numbers. Kay Francis, a big movie star in the early years but nos almost forgotten, was along for the ride as the crook who stole the necklace. Silly, with very low production values and awful delivery of lines by everyone.
