Review - Brewster's Millions
OK. It was one of those frenetic, fast-talking nonsense movies made in the 40s that don't stand up to any thinking.

| Description: | Monty Brewster (Dennis O'Keefe) comes home from the war to marry his girl Peggy (Helen Walker). But before the wedding, he finds out he's inherited eight million dollars — with a catch. He has to stay unmarried, he has to spend one million dollars within two months and not have any assets to show for it, and he can't tell anyone. His uncle wanted him to get sick of spending money before he becomes rich. He buys bad stocks and backs bad investments, but they all turn out in his favor and he starts making money. His spending attracts media attention and several women and Peggy, not understanding, walks out on him. In desperation, Brewster funds an awful Broadway show and takes it to see on a chartered yacht. His friends think he's crazy and stop his scheme, but the ship breaks down and the outrageous fee Brewster pays to get it towed wipes out the last of the million. As the deadline approaches and his friends know he's broke, they find ways to give him money, but he scrambled and manages to get rid of it all in time to inherit the other seven million and get Peggy back. |
