Description:Bill Williamson (Bill Robinson) returns home after WWI and meets Selina Rogers (Lena Horne), the kid sister of an Army friend. They're attracted to each other, but she's a star in a stage show and he's just a manual laborer. He goes south and finds work in New Orleans. Selina comes to town with a show and talks her boss into giving Bill a role in the show in New York. Bill eventually opens his own show. He wants to marry Selina, but she doesn't want to quit show business. Bill buys a home and waits for her. At a show for soldiers heading to WWII, Selina shows up and tells Bill she's ready to marry him. Cab Calloway has a role as Bill's friend and bandleader.

Review - Stormy Weather

The thin story line was just a showcase for the major African American performers of the day, including Falls Waller and the Nicholas Brothers who perform their famous—and painful-looking—stair dance.

Bill Robinson was 65 years old when this was filmed.
