Twice a year, from 1840 to 1848, Abraham Lincoln visited Postville Courthouse located in what is now Lincoln, Illinois. That courthouse was purchased by Henry Ford and moved to Deerfield Village in Michigan. The building on the site now is a reproduction. It wasn’t scheduled to be open until noon on the day of my visit, but even had I been inclined to stick around, (this being Illinois) a sign on the window said that it was closed today because no volunteer was available. It looked like the sign had been around for a while. But I’ve seen a lot of courthouses in my life, and I’ve even been to the real version of this one in Michigan, so I was happy to take a few quick outside photos and move on.
