Reviews for Gunga Din
Review - Gunga Din
Not bad. Dated in every way a movie can be dated. There's a lot of slapstick mixed in with the scenes of heroic death.

| Description: | Three British soliders, Cutter (Cary Grant), MacChesney (Victor McLaglen) and Ballantine (Doublas Fairbanks Jr.) spend their time battling the Thuggee cult, causing trouble and searching for treasure. Ballantine's enlistment is about to end and he plans to marry Emmy (Joan Fontaine), but his two friend scheme to get him to reenlist. When seeking a gold temple, they, and a lowly native water carrier named Gunga Din are captured by the Thuggees. They take the Thuggee leader captive and hole up in the cupola of the temple. They see a British force about to be ambushed by the Thuggees. Gunga Din climbs on the peak of the temple and warns them off with a blast on his bugle. He is shot down and killed, but saves the force which defeats the Thuggees. Ballantine decides to re-up, and Din is made a corporal postumously. |
