Description:In the southwest, Army dispatch rider Hondo Lane (John Wayne) has his horse killed by Indians. He comes across a lonely ranch were Angie (Geraldine Page) lives alone with her young son Johnny. Hondo does some work around the house in exchange for a horse. Back at the Army base, Hondo meets Angie's deadbeat husband who quarrels with him. The Apaches are on the warpath, and Hondo heads back to the ranch to care for Angie and the boy, not knowing that the Apaches leave them alone in return for past kindness. The husband follows Hondo and attacks him. Hondo kills him. Hondo is captured by Indians and tortured, but they let him live because they think he's Angie's husband. Hondo and Angie decide to get married. The cavalry shows up, beaten up in a fight with the Indians. Hondo and Angie ride along. The Indians attack again and are beaten off. Hondo, Angie and the boy head off to Hondo's ranch in California.

Review - Hondo

A rather complicated plot. It was evident from the first minutes that Hondo and Angie would end up together, so there wasn't much suspense. It tried hard, and with some success, to paint both the Apaches and the cavalry in a good light.
