Notes:Doctor Thomas Stockmann is a medical officer charged with inspecting the public baths on which the prosperity of his native town depends. He finds the water to be contaminated. When he refuses to be silenced, he is declared an enemy of the people.

COMMENTS — Ibsen was a Norwegian playwright who introduced a style of play based on a severely realistic middle-class background and developed with economy of action, penetrating dialogue and rigorous thought.
