The African Queen

by C.S. Forester
List(s):"Carp 500"
Category: "Fiction - Adventure"
Pages:136
Year of Publication:1935
Date Read:04/29/1994
Notes:Everything he knew about women, Charlie had learned in ports of call from Marseilles to the Indian Ocean. In his wildest dreams he never expected to meet a girl like Rose Sayer on a tropical river in savage Africa. The African Queen is a novel of a man and a woman thousands of miles from civilization, faced by jungle dangers, the elements, wild savages and their own fierce passions.

COMMENTS — The movie, starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn, sticks pretty close to the story. But read the book first.
My Rating: 7

Review - African Queen, The

It was a good read until the African Queen sank in the lake. I thought that was pretty weak. I know Forester was trying to tell a realistic tale, but he should have come up with a better ending.
