| Notes: | Keegan, a British historian, gives a rather disjointed but highly-readable history of U.S. wars (French vs. English vs. Colonies; the Civil War; Indian wars). His premise is that North America is so big that it can only be invaded along corridors into the interior — St. Lawrence, Hudson, Chesapeake, Mississippi — and that's why certain spots were theaters in so many wars. He also explains why the Indians lost and how they were as guilty as the Americans. He ends with how the U.S. saved Europe in World War II. |
