Notes:The Haunted Bookshop is a sequel to Parnassus on Wheels. Roger Mifflin and his wife have opened a used bookstore in Brooklyn. They take on a young woman, Titania, as an assistant as a favor to her father. A young advertising salesman, Aubrey, stops in one night, meets Titania and falls in love. There's a mystery going on, with books appearing and disappearing and Germans popping in and out. In the end, the Germans turn out to be a spy ring set on blowing up Woodrow Wilson. Aubrey helps foil the plot and, or so we're led to believe, ends up with the girl.

Review - Haunted Bookshop, The

I liked it a lot the first time I read it. This time it was harder slogging. There are several chapters that consist of Roger pontificating on good books, most of which are long gone from sight. The whole spy plot is a bit much too.
