Review - Why Is the Foul Pole Fair?

I've read Staten's books on the history of vegetables, hardware and barbershops. This was the best yet. I found out all sorts of stuff — from the history of mustard to the number of toilets needed for women (one for every 35) to why the most popular bat model is named for Eddie Malone, a career .257 hitter who lasted a part of two seasons, hitting one home run and driving in 26 runs. Staten wanders around and about the field and never lingers long enough on one subject to be boring.
