Review - Cordelia Underwood
I found the author's web site and wrote the following:
Have you read books in this series?
Cordelia Underwood - yes
Mollie Peer - yes
Daniel Plainway - no
Favorite Character: Sundry
Comments: Keep them coming — please. It is so rare to find well-written, clean and funny reads. I enjoy them tremendously.
A few months later, he responded with this:
Dear Mr. Massey,
Last Fall you stopped by the Moosepath League's website and I wanted to reply with a hello and a thank you. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Glad that you have enjoyed the admittedly old-fashioned flavor of the Moosepath League's adventures and that you liked Sundry, who was your choice for favorite character. He and Mister Walton seem to get the lion's share of nods from readers, although the charter members of the club are in close pursuit. I hope, if you continue with the adventures of the Grand Society
that you also continue to enjoy them. I will try to "keep them coming"
although after the next Moosepath saga (the fifth) the immediate fate of the Grand Society is in some question. The publishers seem to think that there aren't enough potential readers of my eccentric brand of fiction. Hearing from people such as yourself encourages me to think that they are mistaken. Thanks again for dropping by the website. I do enjoy reading people's comments and answering their questions. Best wishes to you and yours. Yours truly, Van Reid

Review - Cordelia Underwood
A Short History of a Small Place meets The Pickwick Papers. The plot is fun, but almost incidental. The book is chock-full of great characters and humorous moments. When I was still 80 pages from the end, I went to the library and checked out the second book in the series. It was a thoroughly enjoyable romp through 1890s Maine without a single swear word or objectionably passage. Just plain flat-out good reading.
