Forgotten Truths

by Sir Robert Anderson
Category: "Theology"

Date Read:10/13/2005
Notes:Anderson expounds on the promises to Israel and how they will be fulfilled in the future and have not been passed on to the Church. The Church age was inserted because of Israel’s unbelief. Anderson thinks perhaps that the Church age has been extended for the same basic reason, because of the Church’s unbelief. Christ, when He was on earth, and Paul both indicated that Christ’s return would be soon. Why hasn’t it come yet? Because the Church, like Israel, has failed to live up to its end. But God’s promises still stand and the end will play out just as the Bible states. He explains the difference between the Rapture and the Second Coming and explains the Bema Seat of Christ where Christians will stand before the throne.

Incidentally, Anderson believes in the gap theory of Genesis 1:2. I’m ambivalent about this, but don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be true.

He also speaks on Philippians 1:21 and say sit should read “For me to live is Christ and to have died is gain.” Death is an abomination resulting from sin. The gain is what comes afterwards.

Excellent as always, although the writing is difficult to understand at times. I do best when I can read him in uninterrupted half-hour blocks.
