You will be totally lost if you attempt to read this book without first reading the first four in the series. Thursday Next is an agent who travels between reality and novels, solving problems with characters who don't like the way their stories are going. There's a great deal of book-related humor and cleverness that make the books worth reading even when the plots get too complicated to follow. Fforde has created the most imaginative literary world I've ever read.
