Review - Winner, The

LuAnn Tyler is a stunningly-beautiful, incredibly-smart, stronger-than-any-man young woman with a child who is living in a run-down trailer in rural Georgia with her loser boyfriend. Yea, right. Anyway, she’s contacted by the mysterious Jackson who says he can guarantee that she’ll win the lottery. She turns him down, but then she returns to the trailer and finds her boyfriend dead. She’s attacked by his murderer and knocks him out in self-defense. She calls Jackson and accepts his offer. She goes to NY and wins the money. Jackson’s deal is that he pays her interest for ten years and uses the principle for his own purposes, then gives her the entire amount. But she has to live abroad for the rest of her life. After ten years, she tires of traveling and moves to a big estate in South Carolina. A reporter, Donovan gets suspicious and finds out about the murder charges against LuAnn. He turns up and tries to question her but is driven off by FBI agent-turned-handyman, Matthew Riggs. LuAnn and Riggs fall in love, and he tries to protect her from Donovan and Jackson, who has discovered she’s back in the country. Jackson kills Donovan to protect his scheme, then kidnaps LuAnn’s daughter. LuAnn tracks him down and fights with him. Jackson runs, Riggs chases and kills him. Riggs and LuAnn get married and, for breaking the lottery scam, LuAnn is cleared of all charges.

Actually boring at times, and totally unbelievable. The entire premise of the book is silly. There were some interesting action sequences, which earned it a 6.
