Review - Love Is Now

A provocative treatise on how God wants us to live by letting Him love through us. Just as we are saved by grace through faith, we should live the same way, realizing that we can’t achieve holiness by our own efforts. But God sees us as already perfect in Christ, and by seeing ourselves the same way, it enables us to live for Christ and love others without obsessing on our own behavior. Our focus is on God instead of ourselves. Gillquist says that we can’t love others and accept them until we learn to love and accept ourselves, which we can only do if we understand God’s love for us.

I agree with almost everything he says, but also realize that he says nothing about the places in the Bible that speak of warfare and persecution. There’s a balance between It is God that worketh in you and Work out your own salvation.

I looked up on Amazon to see if Gillquist had written other books. He has. To my surprise, it appears that shortly after writing this one, he went weird and formed a bizarre cult of neo-Orthodoxy, complete with Mary-worship, genuflecting and icons.
