Notes:During WWII, the Russians and British conspire to send a shipment of gold back to England on the hospital ship, San Andreas. The crew doesn't know about it, but somehow, the Germans do. They are determined to stop the ship and take the gold. There are saboteurs on board, who are doing everything they can to keep it from making port. There is a German bomber that precision bombs, wipes out half the crew and makes it difficult to steer. And there's a German submarine following closely behind. But the Germans don't have bosun McKinnon, a resourceful Scot who thwarts them at every turn, discovers and captures the saboteurs and brings the ship limping to safety.

Review - San Andreas

There's a good story in here somewhere, but this wasn't it. The good guys are too clever by far, except when they aren't. Their dialogue is ridiculous, intending to make them sound cool but really just sounding silly. Several of the plot devises are goofy, like the German bomber pilot who is shot down and captured but then basically becomes chief navigator of the ship and guides her right to her destination. Or the saboteurs who don't take steps to stop things until five minutes after the good guys think of them, but who always manage to be in a position to overhear without drawing suspicion to themselves — until they do.
