Review - Five Little Peppers and How They Grew

Caution: This book will make you physically ill. In the summer of 1999, my father was very sick at his home in Northern Wisconsin. I drove up alone one weekend to spend some time with him. It's a six-hour drive, and to pass the time I checked out two books-on-tape. I don't remember the book I listened to on the way up, but Five Little Peppers was the one I listened to on the way home. I was in serious need of distraction from a rather sad and stressful weekend. This book did not provide it. I don't think I've ever been so iritated in my life. The fact that I continued listening to it says a great deal about the quality of radio in Northern Wisconsin — it was Five Little Peppers, country music or polka. There's a choice for you. I had to turn the tape off from time to time to indulge in some primal scream therapy.
