| Notes: | Three Cadfael short stories. 1. A Light on the Road to Woodstock Cadfael, still a soldier, helps a Prior who has been kidnapped to prevent him from testifying in a lawsuit. The guilty party is Cadfael's employer. Cadfael lets him know he helped the prior, then warns him about a plot on his life by his wife and her lover. He then quits the service and joins the monastery. 2. The Price of Light Cadfael investigates the disappearance of gold candlesticks and finds they were taken by a young maid to return them to their rightful owner, her love. When she finds him, they marry, sell the candlesticks and donate the money back to the abbey for charity. 3. A tax collector is robbed and almost killed. The man's wild son is suspected, but Cadfael trusts him. Cadfael sets a trap with the son and catches the man's own servant. |
