Notes:An account of Washington's efforts to gain information about the British, chiefly in New York City. The Culper Ring, a small group of spies, operated efficiently in the city and on Long Island and gained some valuable information over the course of several years. The book also covered Nathan Hale, Benedict Arnold and Major Andre, and an attempt to kidnap Arnold from New York.

Review - Washington's Spies

Some interesting stuff here, but with so many tangents and padding and biographies of minor players, that it was difficult to stay focused on the main point.

That Washington had a spy ring operating in New York was well demonstrated. That the spy ring accomplished anything that aided the war effort wasn't convincingly proven.
