All three of them are drawn to Singer, a deaf/mute. Singer is patient and listens to them for hours, but doesn't know what they want from him or why they come. He, in turn, yearns for his lone friend who has been put in a hospital. When the friend dies, Singer kills himself. Mick drops out of school and gets a job and forgets about music. Blount gets in a fight and has to flee. Dr. Copeland gets sick and has to move away from the people he's trying to help. |
