Notes:A novel about the mad woman in the attic from the novel Jane Eyre. It changes facts and personalities from the earlier book to make the woman out to be a victim of British colonialism, driven made by the way she is treated by Blacks and Engish alike.

Review - Wide Sargasso Sea

A sloppy mess of a book. It's only reason for existence is to give the other side of the story of Jane Eyre, but since the details and personalities of the characters have changed, there's very little connection between the two books. As a result, I didn't care what happened to the characters. The political statement about colonialism is also one I have to interest in. The writing style is choppy and meandering. I would have had to care much more than I did to try to read it carefully.
