Review - 1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die

The old stuff was interesting, right up to the end of the Impressionists. After that, art stopped being about truth and beauty and began being about the artist. "What can I do that hasn't been done before and what claim can I make about it that will make me sound important?" A lot of it was pretentious, a lot of it was silly and much of it was plain evil.
