Notes:Scott's attempt to reach the South Pole as told in the diaries found on his body. He and four men reached the pole only to discover that Amundsen's party had been there a month before. On the way back, bad weather, a shortage of fuel and a concussion suffered by one of the party delayed the five men and they all died.

Review - Scott's Last Expedition: The Journals

I already knew the story from Cherry-Gerard's book and other sources. And it was redundant with entry after entry about the weather, the ice conditions and the state of the horses and dogs. But knowing how it ended gave is a sense of pathos, like I knew something that the writer didn't know.
