Notes:A condensed history of the attempts, from 1096 to 1291, of the "Christian" nations of Europe to capture Palestine from the Moslems. With a combination of misguided faith and naked greed, armies fought, gained land, fought some more, fought with each other and, finally, were defeated and driven from the land. Only their castles and a few churches remained as evidence of the venture.

Reviews for The Crusades

Review - Crusades, The

I've always wanted to know about the Crusades, but never wanted to know a great deal about them. This book provided a good overview and was well-written too. While some men on both sides displayed courage and humanity, most men on both sides were more interested in slaughter and monetary gain. The Crusades were, in short, just another example of humanity's sin nature.
