John Constantine is a detective of occult mysteries or something like that. In the two comics I read, he traveled from London to Africa to New York to track down a demon made up of flies. He destroyed it by allowing it to possess a drug-addict friend of his — or something like that.

Review - John Constantine: Hellblazer

The title should have warned me, I suppose. And then there was the introduction in which the author takes gratuitous shots at Republicans and Margaret Thatcher that have nothing to do with the story.

The story was stupid, deranged and gross, told in bad art in garish colors. There wasn't anything pleasant about the characters, the look or the story. Just disgusting to be disgusting.
