Notes:Subtitle: This Grand Havoc of Battle

Detailed history of the central Kentucky battle that took place on October 8, 1862, between Confederate forces led by Braxton Bragg and Union forces led by Don Carlos Buell. While Buell had the larger army, the general never comprehended the size of the battle and only used half or less of his men. The Confederates used most of their force to drive the Union regiments they faced back about a mile but were unable to rout them. The next day, the Confederates got wind of more Union soldiers in the area and abandoned the battlefield and the campaign to win Kentucky for the Confederacy.

Review - Perryville

Fairly well written and easy to follow. But I got the feeling that the author included every bit of research he found regardless of its triviality. The book took me almost three weeks to read, in part because I was busy, but also because it was slow slogging. Better than average maps were included throughout.
