Review - First Frontier, The

An odd book. It jumped from New England to South Carolina to Pennsylvania, giving great detail in some places and hardly any in others. I'd read accounts of much of the info in the book, but there was enough new material to keep me interested.

As for the content ... There were certainly many instances of mistreatment and dishonesty on the part of the Whites, but the Indians were hardly without blame. The tribes pretty much treated each other (and settlers) the way they complained that the Whites treated them, including constant inter-tribal wars, kidnappings, slavery, and ritual torture and murder.
