Notes:Emily Post, writer of books on manners, travels across the U.S. from New York to San Francisco in 1915 in a motor car with her grown son and a cousin. She talks a lot about the hotels they stayed in and the class of the people they met, but very little about scenery or any adventures they might have had.

Review - By Motor to the Golden Gate

Could have been much more interesting if it hadn't been written by a woman looking through the lens of her class. She actually made what must have been a fascinating trip sound routine and dull. There's very little about terrain, nothing about nature, and almost nothing about attractions. But I know how many crepe under-skirts I need to bring and what sort of bag best keeps my assortment of hats.
