Notes:Subtitle: A Small Town, an Unlikely Coach, and a Magical Baseball Season

In 1971, the Ironmen from Macon High School in the tiny town of Macon, Illinois went to the state finals where they lost to Waukegan. Their hippie coach named Lynn Sweet had a laid-back style that encouraged the players to think for themselves. They came out of nowhere to beat powerhouse Lane Tech in the semifinals, but couldn't quite win it all. Still, their story became famous and the highlight of most of the players' lives.

Review - One Shot at Forever

I wanted to like it, but the fact that the team didn't win state and that most of the players went on to do nothing with their lives makes it rather a story without a point. One player made it big. Right Fielder Brian Snitker, after failing to make the big leagues as a player, is now the manager of the Atlanta Braves.
