Notes:Hiram Percy Maxim's memories of being a small boy with Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim as his father. Maxim was an eccentric, brilliant inventor who invented the machine gun and sold it to the British army. As a father, he was attentive and creative, but certainly not normal, as evidenced by the many odd episodes his son wrote about in this book.

Review - A Genius in the Family

Certainly not a deep book. It mostly covers adventures Maxim had with his father, with only a bit at the end about how he almost beat Edison to the incandescent light bulb. It's an interesting picture of life in the 1870s, and humorous at times, although I struggled a bit to get through it.
