Review - Rules of Civility
Not a huge fan of the story or the characters, although Katy's with was fun. Towles is a good writer, however, with a clever turn of phrase.

| Notes: | Katy Kontent is a working class girl. Out drinking one night, she and her friend Eve meet Tinker, an upper-class gentleman (or so it seemed). He introduces them to upper class Manhattan society. When Tinker gets in an accident and Eve is hurt, he sticks by her side and they eventually head off to Europe together. Katy has enough of a taste of society that she pursues it, managing to make friends and get a good job with a magazine. Eventually, Eve ditches Tinker and Katy connects with him again—then finds out he's a kept man for a rich woman and that he's from an even poorer background than she is. Her reproach sends him off to find himself. Katy keeps going on her new path, marries well, and becomes a settle member of society. |
