Notes:On his 100th birthday, Allan Karlsson climbed out the window of his retirement home. He caught a train at a local station and, on a whim, stole a suitcase containing cash from a hood. Over the next several months, Allan manages to kill two hoods and make several friends, all while being tracked by the police. In the end, he makes friends with the policeman and all the friends all head to Bali to retire.

Throughout, chapters tell of Allan's life for the first 100 years—how he met a succession of famous people and traveled the world and had a major influence on world history.

Review - 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared, The

The part about Allan when he was 100 and was wandering about Sweden killing hoods and making friends was interesting for a while, but it just got silly—especially the lengthy lie he told the police to explain his actions.

The part about his travels around the world and his meetings with famous people was too ludicrous to be interesting and not nearly as funny as it was supposed to be.
