A sequel to Buchanan's book The Road to Guilford Courthouse, it covers the rest of the Revolutionary War in the southern colonies, right up to the British evacuation of Charleston. Nathanael Greene led a mixed bag of Continental troops, cavalry, and militia to fight a few significant battles but mostly to harass and raid British outposts and slowly drive the British back into their coastal cities.

Review - Road to Charleston, The

Not nearly as interesting as The Road to Guilford Courthouse for three reasons: 1) Buchanan, to fill the book, included every bit of information he could find; 2)the war itself was reduced to small raids and battles; 3)the American effort was a sloppy one — bad leaders, confusing chains of commands, supply shortages, etc. — all of which created real problems but made for dull reading.
