Notes:Will Cooper is hired out as an indentured servant and sent, 12-years-old and alone, into the Appalachians to run a general store in Indian territory. He meets Bear, head of the local Cherokee clans and is adopted as an Indian. In time he owns the business and expands and makes money. He and Bear buy up a lot of land, so when the government sends the Cherokees to Oklahoma, Bear and his people get to stay on their land. Meanwhile, Will meets and falls in love with Claire. They have a fling but she goes off to Oklahoma with another man. Will spends the rest of his life pining for her. He neglects his business and eventually has to sell off all his land except for a small parcel by his house. Bear's people have enough left to keep living there.

Review - Thirteen Moons

Started out interesting enough, but then, for the last two thirds of the book, was really about nothing. It went off on all sorts of tangents and didn't really have a point that I could see. In fact, by the time it was over, I didn't even like the main character.
