Notes:Mikael Blomkvist, financial journalist, is hired by Vanger, a millionaire, to find out what happened to his niece Harriet who disappeared 30 years earlier. Vanger suspects that someone in his family murdered her. Mikael investigates with the help of Salander, an antisocial, punk computer hacker. Together they figure out that Harriet hadn't been killed. She ran away to escape her brother, who had been abusing her, and to hide from the police for killing her father, who had also been abusing her. And both her father and brother turned out to be serial killers. Along the way, Salander falls in love with Mikael, but once the case is over, he goes back to his mistress.

Review - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The

It took a really long time before anything much happened. Then, for a little while, the story of the investigation was interesting. Then it just started describing sick crimes. There were no sympathetic characters. Solander is presented as a victim, but one who operates by her own moral code—such as it is. I suppose the book is popular with antisocial, immoral, punks who identify with Salander—but who almost certainly accomplish far less.
