Amusing, although it took me a while to get into it—pretty much the way I feel about all of Westlake's books.

| Notes: | Dortmunder and his crew of thieves plan on robbing the penthouse of the wealthy Preston Fareweather, who is hiding out in the Bahamas from his ex-wives. But meanwhile, Dortmunder decides to save his favorite bar, which is in danger of being taken over by the mob. The mob decides to get revenge and follows Dortnumder, figuring out his heist plans. The robbery goes off OK even though—unknown to all the thieves—Fareweather has returned unexpectedly and is sleeping in the other room. Just as the thieves take off in the truck, the mob hijacks it—half a block before it's surrounded by the police. The mob buys are arrested, Fareweather is supenaed by his ex-wives and Dortmunder and gang end up with a lot less than they'd planned, but also not in jail. |
