In the 1920's, the author built a two-room cabin on the dunes of Cape Cod and spend a year there alone observing nature. Besides occasional hikes into town for supplies, his only companions were the men at a nearby lifeguard station. He wrote about weather, birds, animals, and the land itself.

Review - Outermost House, The

Rather dull, actually. His accounts of shipwrecks were interesting, as were his descriptions of bird life. Other parts were much less interesting, especially the chapter on the sound of waves.
