Sketches, originally appearing in Yank magazine, about Artie Greengroin, truck-driving soldier with the quartermaster's corp in England during WWII. Artie's from Brooklyn and thinks he could be something special—if he was only appreciated, if he could only get a promotion, if he could only meet a duchess. The sketches, in rough chronological order, follow Artie as he complains, gets in trouble, ends up in the brig or on KP, and comes up with new schemes. In the last sketch, he's on his way to France, well after D-day, still full of scemes.

Review - Artie Greengroin, Pfc

Mildly amusing, although the chapters all felt pretty similar after a while. Nothing much actually happened. It was just Artie complaining and getting in trouble.
