Review - Starlight Rider
Typical Haycox. Noble but flawed hero goes up against stronger evil villain and wins the day and the girl. As always, it's an entertaining, quick read.

| Notes: | Armed Services Edition Hugh Tracy returns to his property after recuperating from a bullet wound. He's determined to regain what belongs to him even though he's caught in the middle of a range war. Two large ranchers, one on either side, both want his land because he's got the only water. Shadrow is the meanest of the bunch, and he soon wipes out the other rancher and comes for Tracy. Tracy, meanwhile, has become friends with Lynn, Shadrow's ward, whom the rancher wants to marry against her wishes. Tracy sneaks into Shadrow's house and spirits Llynn away. Shadrow and his men follow, and Lynn gives herself up to save Tracy. He returns for her, there's a big shootout, and Shadrow is killed by Lake Tolbert, one of his own men, who is loyal but refuses to do anything to hurt a woman. Tracy and Lynn get married and live happily for the last paragraph of the book anyway. |
